ORLANDO, Fla. — The suspect in the deadly shooting on the Florida State University campus last month was released from the hospital Monday and transferred to a detention facility, according to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.
Phoenix Ikner, 20, was taken by the Tallahassee Police Department to the Leon County Detention Facility, the sheriff’s office posted in an update on its Facebook page.
Ikner, the stepson of a Leon County sheriff’s deputy, faces felony charges stemming from the April 17 shooting on the FSU campus. He faces two counts of first degree murder and seven counts of attempted first degree murder.
Ikner was wounded when law enforcement responded to the shooting about four minutes after it began.
He was booked at the facility, but then transferred to the Wakulla County Detention Facility, where he will await his first appearance in court, the post stated. The transfer to the neighboring county was standard protocol because of his relationship to the sheriff’s deputy.
“LCSO thanks all of our first responder partners who have worked tirelessly to ensure justice in this case,” the post read.
