TAMPA, Fla. — Federal prosecutors have obtained indictments against two people in an investigation of an explosive device that was found earlier this month near the entrance to MacDill Air Force Base.
An indictment unsealed Thursday accuses Alen Zheng, 20, of attempting to damage government property and making and possessing an improvised explosive device. The indictment references the MacDill Air Force Base Visitors Center as the property he allegedly attempted to damage.
A separate indictment accuses Ann Mary Zheng, 27, of evidence tampering and being an accessory after the fact in Alan Zheng’s case.
The pair, who share an address in Land O’ Lakes, were arrested Thursday. They have yet to appear in court.
Few other details were immediately available. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has scheduled a 1:30 p.m. news conference to discuss the case.
