NEW YORK — A Virginia woman has been arrested for the Hamptons hit-and-run that killed Sara Burack, a luxury real estate agent who starred on the popular Netflix show “Million Dollar Beach House.”

Amanda Kempton, 32, was taken into custody Friday afternoon and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a fatality, according to Southampton Town police. The charge, a class D felony, is punishable by up to seven years in prison.

Kempton, whose family lives on Long Island, was held overnight and arraigned Saturday morning at Southampton Justice Court. She pleaded not guilty and was released from custody on $200,000 bond, her attorney confirmed, according to Newsday.

Kempton’s arrest came more than a day after 40-year-old Burack was discovered lying unconscious on the side of Montauk Highway in Hamptons Bay around 2:45 a.m. Thursday. Police said she was found with severe injuries suggesting she’d been struck by a vehicle, including serious head trauma and several broken bones.

She also reportedly went into cardiac arrest on the scene, sources told TMZ, but first responders managed to revive her before she was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital. There, she was placed on life support but died from her injuries around 3 p.m. that same day.

Kempton’s attorney, William Keahon, told the court it was “very foggy” early Thursday morning and that his client merely “thought she hit a construction cone” before driving away from the scene. He said she was not speeding or weaving, and that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Few other details about the deadly crash have been provided and an investigation into the matter is ongoing.

A successful and well-known real estate agent, Burack previously worked with Nest Seekers International, a luxury firm known for handling properties in Manhattan and the Hamptons.

In 2020, she appeared on the reality series “Million Dollar Beach House,” which followed a young and hungry group of realtors as they competed to close deals on high-end properties in the Hamptons.

According to her LinkedIn, Burack also worked as an events and business development coordinator for Social Life Magazine in addition to volunteering with numerous nonprofits, including The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the ASPCA.
