New on DVD: Escape death once more with 'Final Destination Bloodlines'
Published in Entertainment News
The reboot of an aughts horror franchise tops the DVD releases for the week of July 22.
"Final Destination Bloodlines": A new generation must try to outwit fate in this sixth installment, the first entry since 2011, that sees an extended family plagued by freak accidents because their ancestors escaped a disaster decades earlier.
"Larger existential questions, philosophical quandaries and mental health themes are present if you want to look for them, but 'Final Destination Bloodlines' also revels in the gleefully gory and low-brow bloody thrills that are the hallmark of the franchise," writes Tribune News Service critic Katie Walsh in her review. "It’s as deep as you want it to be, and the shockingly wild death traps are enough to keep you gasping while pondering how to try and make meaning out of a world that’s out to get you."
