Britney Spears has pleaded guilty to reckless driving after her DUI arrest in March.

The 44-year-old pop star did not appear at a Ventura County courthouse on Monday (05.04.26), but Michael A. Goldstein, Britney's lawyer, agreed to plead guilty following the incident in California on March 4.

Ventura County Commissioner Matthew Nemerson sentenced Britney to 12 months' probation and one day of jail, credited as time served.

Britney - who is one of the best-selling pop stars of all time - has been fined $571, while she's also been ordered to see a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.

Britney was charged with a misdemeanour in April, and at the time, officials confirmed that the chart-topping star would likely be offered the wet reckless plea as she didn't have a prior DUI charge.

What's more, officials observed that there was no crash or injury in her arrest, while she also had a low blood alcohol level.

The District Attorney's Office explained: "This DUI case will be handled according to our standard protocols.

"For defendants without a prior DUI history, a low blood alcohol level, and where there is no crash or injury, prosecutors typically offer what is known as a 'wet reckless.' This law allows a defendant to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs."

The District Attorney's Office also explained that this type of scenario is "common, particularly when a defendant demonstrates self-motivation to address underlying issues through rehabilitation or a drug and alcohol treatment program.

"Under that offer, a defendant is placed on probation for 12 months, receives credit for any time spent in custody, is required to complete a DUI class, and must pay state-mandated fines and fees. This offer will be extended to Ms. Spears on Monday."

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Spears previously addressed the incident.

The spokesperson told Us Weekly in March: "This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.

"Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.

"Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being."
