“Total Eclipse of the Heart” singer Bonnie Tyler suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and was later resuscitated in Portugal, according to local media reports.

The 74-year-old 1980s hitmaker was hospitalized last week for an “emergency intestinal surgery,” according to her website.

That site reported Wednesday that Tyler’s surgery was success and she was recuperating in the city of Faro. According to Portuguese media, she suffered a second emergency situation when doctors tried to bring her out of a medically induced coma.

Newspaper Correio da Manhã reported Friday that the Welsh star was in intensive care at Faro Hospital. Doctors were said to have begun treating a general infection with antibiotics after Tyler’s condition worsened.

Her representatives didn’t respond to a request for comment on Monday. Her status is unclear.

Guitarist Ed Poole told fans on Instagram over the weekend that he had no new information to offer about the frontwoman, other that stating that he and his bandmates are hoping for the best.

Tyler’s discomfort reportedly began recently when she was performing in London. She travelled to her longtime home in southern Portugal when no immediate cause for concern was identified.

The pop star, whose hits also include “Holding Out for a Hero” and “It’s a Heartache,” soon after suffered a ruptured appendix that urgently required surgery, the Portuguese paper said.

Tyler enjoyed enormous success in 1983 when “Total Eclipse of the Heart” topped the Billboard Hot 100.

“It’s such an anthem, and such a wonderful feeling, I never get tired of singing it,” she told the Guardian in 2009.

The power-pop classic has since been in TV commercials and movies including the 2003 comedy “Old School.”

The next scheduled performance on Tyler’s website is a May 30 concert in Germany. She has shows booked through the end of the year.
