Beloved classic rock act Journey adds more dates for final tour
Published in Entertainment News
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Here’s the news that local Journey fans have been waiting and hoping for:
The classic rock act, which ranks as one of the biggest bands in Bay Area music history, has finally announced a hometown show on its farewell tour.
Journey brings its Final Frontier Tour to Chase Center in San Francisco on Nov. 28.
And for those who don’t wait that long, or simply want to double up on the goodbye time with mighty guitarist Neal Schon and company, Journey is also playing Sept. 17 at Adventist Health Arena in Stockton.
Road trip!
These shows are part of the newly announced batch of 40 new dates for Journey’s farewell tour.
Very fittingly, the San Francisco gig serves as a big hometown finale to the tour. (Unless, of course, Journey ends up adding even more dates — stadium tour, anyone?)
Tickets for the San Francisco and Stockton shows go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. May 15, ticketmaster.com. There is also a presale for Citi cardmembers that begins at 10 a.m. May 13, citientertainment.com.

The Final Frontier Tour launched on Feb. 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and has been playing in front of packed arenas filled with fans looking to hear such classic rock staples as “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Faithfully” and “Lights” at least one more time in concert.
“The energy has been incredible every night,” Schon says. “Seeing these crowds sing these songs with us after all these years has been powerful. We’re excited to bring the Final Frontier Tour to even more cities this fall.”
The current Journey lineup features Schon (lead guitar), Jonathan Cain (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals), Arnel Pineda (lead vocals), Deen Castronovo (drums, vocals), Jason Derlatka (keyboards, vocals) and Todd Jensen (bass, vocals).
“The fans have been incredible,” Pineda says of the shows thus far on the tour. “Every night feels like a celebration, and we’re excited to share that experience with even more cities.”
