Stephen Colbert's 'Americone Dream' gets new post-late night look

NEW YORK — “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” aired its final episode on May 21, but the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor honoring the beloved host will remain in grocery store freezers indefinitely. And it’s getting a new look.
Ben & Jerry told USA Today Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream is a “perennial fan favorite in Ben & Jerry’s TOP TEN flavors [that] isn’t going anywhere.”
However, the 62-year-old comic will now appear in a blue button-up shirt with no tie on the circular cartons that up until now featured him in a dark suit similar to the ones he wore on television. References to his defunct show are also being nixed.
Colbert’s confection is a vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel swirl. It debuted in 2007 with his blessing.
Ben & Jerry’s said it’s fond of saying “The (Americone) Dream Continues.”
Colbert told his audience in 2014 that he was celebrating the 7-year anniversary of his ice cream, which he called “one of the sweetest things that ever happened in my life.”
The bespeckled funnyman boasted that his share of proceeds from the popular snack $7.4 million has been paid out to hundreds of charities chosen by his staff.
Ben & Jerry’s expressed its gratitude toward Colbert in an Instagram post thanking him for “all the sweet memories” as he finished his 11-year run on “The Late Show.”
The company hasn’t returned a Daily News request for comment.
