Jack and Sharon Osbourne defend plan for AI Ozzy Osbourne

Jack and Sharon Osbourne are pushing back against critics of their plan to release an AI version of the late Ozzy Osbourne.
The rocker’s son brought up the backlash sparked by the project during a sit-down with his mother on “The Osbournes” podcast on Friday.
“Oh, for f—‘s sake,” Sharon said of the online reaction to the AI hologram, dubbed by some on social media as a cash grab. “I was reading some of them, and it’s like, ‘Oh, f— off. Give me a break.”
She said that creating the Ozzy avatar was about keeping up with the times and evolving technology, in addition to keeping the singer’s legacy alive.
“It’s like saying when there were propellers and then there were jet planes. ‘Oh, well, cash grab! Why go on a jet when there’s a propeller? What are you doing?'” Sharon protested. “Well, you know what, technology moves on. And I’m sorry for those people. I’m not asking you to come. I don’t want your f—ing money. I don’t need your f—ing money. I’m doing very well.”
Jack also emphasized the Ozzy hologram would be a closed AI, not “ChatGPT with dad’s face on it.” That means it can’t be downloaded or modified, but will instead operate through a database containing “only information that either my dad said or was written accurately about him.”
“This is going to be tasteful and innovative,” he said.
Jack and Sharon revealed their plans to digitize the Black Sabbath frontman at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas back in May, nearly a year after his death on July 22, 2025, at age 76.
