'Jurassic Park' star Sam Neill's cause of death, memorial details revealed

Sam Neill’s cause of death has been confirmed just days after the beloved “Jurassic Park” star passed away Monday.
The Emmy-nominated New Zealander was 78 when he succumbed to pneumonia earlier this week in Sydney after having “valiantly fought and beaten lymphoma through a new treatment called CAR-T therapy,” his representative said in a statement shared with the Daily News.
As “The Piano” star “was an intensely private man who loathed a fuss,” he will be honored in a private family memorial at his New Zealand farm, added his representative.
Neill kept up a demanding work pace over the past year, at the helm of his winery while filming four projects back-to-back, all of which will be released posthumously.
Rather than flowers, those looking to honor Neill’s memory were asked to donate to The Dunstan Hospital Foundation, The Snowdome Foundation, or a New Zealand charity or fund supporting “the sustainability, protection and preservation of New Zealand’s wildlife, native bush and land.”
Neill’s family announced his death in an Instagram statement Monday, revealing that he’d passed away that day in Sydney, where he was “surrounded by family.”
Despite his early 2022 diagnosis of lymphoma, Neill’s loved ones said he “remained cancer-free” until his “sudden and expected” death, which occurred “with the dignity that has characterized his whole life.”
Steven Spielberg, who directed Neill as Dr. Alan Grant in 1993’s “Jurassic Park,” was among those leading the tributes to the late actor, remembering him as “exceptionally collaborative” and a “loving father … to his children.”
“I adored making all the ‘Jurassic’ movies with him. Along with Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, we will always have our ‘Jurassic’ family and Sam will never be forgotten by us or his many millions of fans around the world.”
Dern recalled her co-star as a “beloved lifetime friend,” as well as “a true and noble gentleman, wrapped up in my dream leading man.”
