Hank Williams Jr. postpones Friday show in Michigan, announces new date
Published in Entertainment News
DETROIT — Friday night's Hank Williams Jr. concert at Pine Knob has been postponed, venue reps announced Friday.
The show has been moved to Aug. 13. Tickets from Friday's show will be honored at the rescheduled date, and additional tickets are on sale now.
The postponement comes as air conditions are still suffering the lingering effects of the Canadian wildfires. Detroit has the most polluted air in the world among major cities on Friday morning, according to Swiss air quality technology company IQAir.
John Mellencamp's Thursday night show at Pine Knob was canceled due to the poor air conditions. Alanis Morissette's Thursday night concert at Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant was also postponed due to air concerns; a Sept. 19 makeup date has been announced.
It wasn't just Michigan concerts that were affected; a Chicago Black Keys concert, a Creed concert in Minnesota and New York concerts by the War and Treaty and Mavis Staples were also postponed or canceled on Thursday due to the wildfires.
Openers Sammy Kershaw and Mary Kutter were due to join Williams on stage at Pine Knob; no word yet on if they will be at the makeup date.
The Black Crowes and Whiskey Myers are due to play Pine Knob on Saturday, and Mötley Crüe is scheduled to play the Clarkston amphitheater on Monday.
