NEW YORK — Ben and Casey Affleck’s mother, Christopher Anne Affleck, has died months after she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was 83.

The Oscar winners’ mom, a civil rights advocate born in New York City, “died peacefully in her sleep” on June 2, two days after fulfilling her dying wish “to see her grandson graduate high school,” according to an online obituary published Friday by The Hollywood Reporter.

The Affleck matriarch was diagnosed in December 2025 with pancreatic cancer and given six months to live, at which point, “She called her friend … to take oral histories of his time as a principal in the South Bronx.”

Affleck “taught literacy classes in Mississippi during Freedom Summer, marched against the Vietnam War,” and was among the first Radcliffe women to graduate from Harvard — where she roomed with casting director Patty Collins, who’d go on to help Ben with auditions.

She and ex-husband Timothy Affleck became parents in 1972, with the arrival of Ben. In 1975, they were joined by Casey. Per That was around the time when the family moved to Massachusetts, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Chris Affleck retired in 2008 following more than three decades of teaching to “see the world and change it” through continued volunteer and advocacy work.

Both her sons hit it big with critical acclaim. Ben won the Oscar for best original screenplay, along with co-writer Matt Damon, in 1998 for “Good Will Hunting,” in which they starred with Casey. Ben also took home best picture in 2013 for “Argo,” which he produced, directed and starred in.

Casey won a best actor Oscar in 2017 for “Manchester by the Sea.”

In addition to her sons, Chris Affleck is survived by five grandchildren: Violet, Atticus and Fin, Ben’s children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner; and Indiana and Atticus, Casey’s children with his first wife, Summer Phoenix.
