Rosie O’Donnell is experiencing a career revival after decamping to Ireland in January 2025.

The 64-year-old comic recently returned to New York City following a transatlantic move she attributed to President Donald Trump’s return to power. O’Donnell told podcast host Kara Swisher that being back in the U.S. has been like going back in time to when she was at her most famous.

According to the Long Island native, fans on the street have been stopping her to express their appreciation.

“What is this, 30 years ago?” O’Donnell said. “I feel re-famous.”

O’Donnell announced in March 2025 she and her 12-year-old child have been residing in Ireland since Trump began his second presidency in January of that year.

“The personal is political, as we all know,” she told fans on TikTok at the time.

She and President Trump have been involved in a longstanding feud dating back 20 years to her time on ABC’s “The VIew.” O’Donnell has continued targeting Trump during his time in politics. He’s responded in kind, which included a threat to revoke her U.S. citizenship last year.

O’Donnell believes her willingness to continually engage the President is appealing to her fans.

“I think people really want nostalgia,” she said on Monday’s “On With Kara Swisher.”

“They want people with their voices and power, to stand up to what’s happening with in their county and they really respect you… for doing it.”

O’Donnell speaks about her quarrel with Trump in the one-woman show “Common Knowledge,” which she’s performing through Saturday at Broadway’s Daryl Roth Theater.

Broadway is one of the things O’Donnell missed most while being in Ireland. She said she’s also happy to be eating at Joe Allen and Nobu again.

O’Donnell is expected to soon head to Los Angeles where Jimmy Kimmel invited her to host his ABC talk show while he’s away this month. Representatives from the show haven’t returned a request to confirm the dates when she’ll appear.

O’Donnell admitted on Sophia Bush’s podcast last month that she’d like to return to the U.S permanently at some point.
