Michael Shannon has reportedly married for the second time - after quietly divorcing his first wife.

The 52-year-old actor tied the knot with photographer Christy Bush in Athens, Georgia, earlier this month, according to the New York Post's Page Six.

The outlet added that the pair obtained a marriage license on July 27, with the paperwork returned to county court and now awaiting a judge's signature.

According to Page Six, guests at the wedding included "famous friends and industry people".

While it remains unclear when Michael and Christy, 55, started dating, they have been attending events in public together for a while now.

They were photographed visiting the Pasaquan art compound near Buena Vista, Georgia, in October 2025, and also attended the Hermès men's runway show during Paris Fashion Week this past January.

It's the second marriage for both Michael and Christy.

The Shape of Water actor was previously married to Kate Arrington, with whom he shares daughters Sylvie and Mae.

The pair tied the knot in 2017 before divorcing in 2022, according to Page Six, and were last photographed together in November 2024.

Christy, meanwhile, shares daughter Frankie with ex-husband Sam Fogarino - the drummer for the band Interpol.

Michael recently opened up about how his concept of love has changed as he's aged, as he explained during an interview on the Wild Card podcast: "I think when you're young, love can be very self-serving.

"You're like, you want love from other people. You want to have love. And then as you get older, you realise that it's probably ultimately more important to love others regardless of what you get in return.

"It's liberating in a way. If you can really do it in an honest, authentic way, it's actually very freeing.

"But unfortunately it seems to be something you can't get to without experiencing a fair amount of pain."
