NEW YORK — TikTok influencer Alyshia Rushing, known online as “Mama A,” is dead at 26.
The social media star died in a car crash early Saturday morning, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched by her mother.
“She was an amazing mother of four, a content creator, and one of the strongest women I have ever known,” Crystal Smitherman wrote.
The 20-year-old man driving the other car involved in the 2:15 a.m. crash that killed Rushing also died, according to Alabama’s Montgomery Advertiser. A GoFundMe fundraiser established by his family identifies that victim as U.S. Marine Landon Dunn, who was visiting family. A message on that page said Dunn died in “a head-on collision.”
A female passenger in Rushing’s car suffered injuries that didn’t appear to be life-threatening. The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to WSFA in Alabama.
Local station WAKA said Rushing was driving an SUV that collided with Dunn’s pickup truck in Interstate 85.
Rushing had more than 540,000 followers on TikTok. She said in a 2024 video that she started posting about her life as a young mom because people were asking her how she maintained her sanity,
“Honestly, I don’t even know how I stay sane,” Rushing confessed.
Smitherman said she now plans to support her grieving grandchildren and honor their mom.
“As her mother, I am trying to do everything I can to honor Alyshia’s memory and care for the four children she leaves behind,” she wrote.
