Will we one day eliminate death?

Q: The older I get, death terrifies me, so I’m very interested in hearing what AI has to say: that someday death can be eliminated. My pastor disagrees, as though he doesn’t want to see death eliminated. What kind of craziness is that? – D.E.
A: Some researchers say that aging may be a curable disease that could resolve the matter of death. Even if this were possible, which it isn’t, aging isn’t the only cause of death. Deaths occur on the highway, in war, by falls, in the birth process, by murder, and illness, to mention just a few. Death has been called the king of terrors regardless of age or circumstance.
America’s Silicon Valley is considered one of the greatest scientific epicenters in the world; yet all the scientific brain power and technological advances cannot solve the reality and terror of death.
The Bible tells us that God has given mankind a general life expectancy of 70, or “by reason of strength” 80 years (Psalm 90:10, NKJV). If you live beyond these markers in reasonably good health, God has extended your days with blessings. Many doctors agree that little has been done to advance life expectancy to any significant degree.
While the scientific age continues to boom and people gain more knowledge, skepticism grows as the world questions the Biblical and historical account of Jesus’ resurrection. Many ask, “If Jesus was really resurrected, how does this impact me?” For those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we know that science cannot solve the problem of death because Jesus Christ conquered death, and He gives the same promise to those who trust Him and live in obedience to Him: “Death is swallowed up in victory” (1 Corinthians 15:54, NKJV)! You see, it is not eliminating death that should be sought but rather eliminating the fear of death because of the hope found in Jesus.
