Stevie Wonder makes Election Day push for Michigan Democrats: 'So much on the line'
Published in Political News
DETROIT — Stevie Wonder is making a last-minute push for the Democratic Party in the midterm elections in a social media video released on Election Day, Tuesday.
The Motown legend appeared in a video posted by the Michigan Democratic Party where he urges voters to cast their ballots for democratic candidates Abdul El-Sayed and Jocelyn Benson.
"There is so much on the line this election," says Wonder, 76. "We cannot be distracted."
Wonder has long aligned himself and his music with democratic causes. In October 2024, in the weeks leading up to the U.S. presidential election, Wonder played a sold-out concert at Little Caesars Arena where he wanted to use music to "fix our nation's broken heart."
Wonder is due to play a pair of concerts at Detroit's Fox Theatre on Dec. 8 and 9 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his 1976 masterpiece, "Songs in the Key of Life." The shows are sold-out.
