The family of “Revenge of the Nerds” standout Robert Carradine is suing the Los Angeles hospital where the actor died for elder abuse and wrongful death.

The 71-year-old star, who known as nerd-leader Lewis Skolnick long before playing the title character’s dad on “Lizzie McGuire,” died by hanging in February while being treated for bipolar disorder and severe depression, according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner.

A lawsuit obtained by The Wrap argues that Carradine’s death was avoidable.

“Robert walked into UCLA’s locked psychiatric unit ‘feeling relieved to be hospitalized’ and hoped that ‘additional inpatient treatment would’ reduce his anxiety,” a court filing charges.

Instead, according to that document, he was locked inside a facility with a belt that could be used for “cause self-harm or hanging” despite his history of suicidal ideation.

“UCLA also left a rolling bedside table in his room, which was not a standard piece of furniture in the locked psych unit,” the plaintiffs contend.

Carradine is said to have suffered an anoxic brain injury that landed him in an intensive care unit for more than a month before he succumbed to that injury on Feb. 23. Hospital officials did not address The Wrap’s report.

Carradine died shortly ahead of his “Revenge of the Nerds” tormenter Donald Gibb, who played a bully named Ogre in the 1984 comedy and its sequels. The 71-year-old performer lost his battle with throat cancer in May, according to TMZ.
