Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. will sell the standard version of "Grand Theft Auto VI" at $80, locking in a more traditional price for the video game after speculation that the company would raise the cost of what’s expected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches of all time.

"Grand Theft Auto VI," an open-world crime game developed by Take-Two subsidiary Rockstar Games, will be out Nov. 19 and presale orders open on Thursday. Its predecessor, "Grand Theft Auto V," has sold more than 230 million copies, leading to sky-high expectations for the new game. Competitors have avoided scheduling their own games for release in November because demand is expected to be so feverish.

Analysts had speculated that Rockstar might sell the base version of the game for upwards of $100 due to high demand. Most premium video games cost $70 but over the last year some companies have flirted with charging $80, such as Nintendo. Customers haven’t reacted well to the change but might view "Grand Theft Auto VI" in a different light.

Rockstar will also offer a $100 package called the "Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition" that includes the game and “an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action,” according to the company.

The previous game was coupled with a multiplayer component called "Grand Theft Auto Online" that generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue per year for Take-Two Interactive. "Grand Theft Auto VI" is also expected to feature an online component, but the company hasn’t yet offered details for how it will be released.

The game “features a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet,” Rockstar said Wednesday, implying that the online component will be released separately.
