KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals will conclude their three-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday after Wednesday’s game was postponed.
Inclement weather Wednesday initially delayed play at Kauffman Stadium. A significant line of rainstorms — with thunder and lightning — hit the KC metro around game time.
Neither team took batting practice or had pregame activities on the field. The Royals announced a rain delay around 30 minutes before first pitch. Shortly before 9 p.m., they called the game off.
The postponed game will be played as the second game of a traditional doubleheader, the Royals announced, starting at 1:10 p.m. Central on Thursday.
The Royals won the first game of the series in dramatic fashion Tuesday. KC starter Michael Lorenzen was slated to face Rockies right-hander German Marquez in Wednesday’s game, which instead marked the first Royals rainout of 2025.
KC left-handed ace Cole Ragans will now pitch the first game Thursday, followed by Lorenzen in the second game of the doubleheader.
