DeShon Elliott, Steelers agree to new three-year contract

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers have signed safety DeShon Elliott to a new three-year contract worth $15.5 million. The Steelers now have both of their starting safeties under contract through the 2026 season.
Elliott, who was entering the final year of a two-year contract totaling $6 million, started 14 games and had 108 tackles. He also had an interception, two fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles.
Elliott found a home in the Steelers defense after bouncing around from team to team in his first five NFL seasons. The Ravens selected him in the sixth round of the 2018 draft, and Elliott played three seasons for them. He moved on to Detroit for one season and then played one season with the Dolphins before signing with the Steelers last March.
Elliott has started 64 of the 72 games he’s played in since entering the league.
The biggest contract of the offseason remains undone. The Steelers and T.J. Watt are trying to come to terms on a new contract. Watt did not attend minicamp and it’s not known if he’ll continue to hold out into training camp, which begins July 23 at Saint Vincent College.
