Ex-NFL star Antonio Brown is no stranger to police, discipline in his career

MIAMI — Former NFL star Antonio Brown, wanted on an attempted murder charge by Miami Police following a shooting in May at an amateur boxing event, is no stranger to controversy.
Brown, 36, a Miami Norland High graduate who signed with four NFL teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2021 Super Bowl championship team, has had a string of well-documented incidents on and off the field, including allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Here’s a timeline of Brown’s headline-grabbing incidents over the years:
— In 2007, Florida International University yanked his scholarship after he got into an altercation with campus security.
— In 2019, a fitness trainer sued him, alleging he sexually assaulted her. He settled the federal suit. Another woman accused Brown of sexual misconduct in a Sports Illustrated report.
— In 2020, the NFL suspended him for the first eight regular-season games of the 2022 season for multiple violations of the NFL’s personal-conduct policy, including an incident in Florida where he sent “intimidating texts” to a woman who rebuffed his advances, according to the NFL. He was a free agent as he had been released by the New England Patriots after appearing in just one game with them, against the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in September 2019. The Dolphins lost, 43-0.
— In 2020, Brown was accused of assaulting a truck driver; sentenced to probation, psychological evaluation and anger management.
— In 2021, the NFL suspended the Tampa Bay wide receiver for three games for misrepresenting his COVID-19 vaccination status.
— In 2022, a civil court ordered Brown to pay $1.2 million in damages for the truck driver assault.
— In 2022, during a game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, Brown stripped off his uniform mid-game, tossed his shirt into the stands and stormed off the field, apparently unhappy with his playing time. The Bucs released him.
— In 2022, Tampa Police issued an arrest warrant for Brown, charging him with battery after he allegedly threw a shoe at a woman. The warrant was recalled and no charges were filed.
— June 11, 2025: A Miami-Dade judge signs an arrest warrant for Brown, on an attempted-murder charge with a firearm. The charge stems from a shooting at a May 16 amateur boxing event in Miami.
